Okay heres the teams, everything remains fairly as expected except for the shock exit of some of the rookie guns of season 2008. Mims’s Friday Feature http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/08/15/mimss-friday-feature/ http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/08/15/mimss-friday-feature/#comments Fri, 15 Aug 2008 10:06:54 +0000 Mims http://dreamteamcouch.wordpress.com/?p=766 ]]>

Last Friday was the proposed debut of the Friday Feature for the Dream Team world. Due to certain computer technicalities, although I assure you I’m far from a noob and a French exchange which occupied some of my precious time. I apologise to everyone who got up before sunrise, constantly F5ing waiting for the feature to arrive. Some even risking their whole DT year refusing to leave the website and update their own team, most likely in need of a lot of help.

This is where Mims’s extensive knowledge comes into play. There are lots of options for the first week of finals, with extensive outcomes. The number of trades really decides your options
If you have zero: Watch your team crash and burn!
If you have one: Save it, AFL players balls seem to drop off near the end of the season, you’ll need it when Ablett decides he needs just one more week, purely to increase his Brownlow odds.
If you have two: Remove all zero scoring players, if you have more than two you don’t deserve a run in the finals.
If you have three: Try to save most of them, and maybe try to update a player while you’re at it.
If you have four: Count your blessings, use one for each match, make sure you can cover your opponent in all areas.
If you have five (Where Mims’s is at.): You are in a solid position, upgrade one of your noobs, then remove all your injured players.
If you have more than five: Firstly, you have most likely forgotten your password and haven’t checked your team all year. Otherwise you are extremely Jewish with your trades. You definitely should cash in your last cash cows, enabling you to upgrade some of your noobs who couldn’t get a game at Melbourne.
If you are lining up against MILF Hunter Mims’s: Cry yourself to sleep, it does hurt losing by 200+ in a final.

Some final Mims exclusives,
“Rodney Eade has suggested he will rest players in the next month in preparation for the finals. That always makes Dream Team Coaches feel sick considering their last four H&A games are our finals.” Mims
This could be your last chance for a creative trade……

That’s all Mims’s exclusive tips for the round, so bookmark this one; you might need it when all your prn gets deleted……….

The Finals Buzz http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/08/15/the-finals-buzz/ http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/08/15/the-finals-buzz/#comments Fri, 15 Aug 2008 09:56:00 +0000 D-rat http://dreamteamcouch.wordpress.com/?p=763 ]]>

As the pressure of finals in nearing the AFL world, the players are feeling the heat. Players are fighting for their spot in the side and every thing counts. One major thing all AFL and DT couches alike love seeing from their players is a massive tackle count. With each tackle worth 4 valuable points more than any other stat, except a goal, they are crucial in boosting a player’s score. It comes as no surprise that Sydney is equal on top for the club tackle count due to there stop start style of play. Brett Kirk is on top of the player tackle count with 116, but it is players who are more consistently good that you would go for. Jimmy Bartel, Joel Corey and Scott Thompson have great tackle counts of above 90 and all average more than 100 DT points a game. As the players in the top teams will be fighting for selection you can be guaranteed effort and generally results in terms of DT points.

In even briefer consider players from the top teams, as long as they don’t get rested, and good tacklers. Also watch out for Buddy this week he will be getting hungry for his ton and will be taking shots from all over the park and the Hawks boys will be trying stop him up as much as possible!

Tom Wills round kicks off tonight with the Dees vs Cats, what could be a better way to celebrate 150 yearsIs this what Gary Ablett Jnr would have looked like 150 years ago? of Aussie Rules Football than watching 1st vs 16th at the G. But wait! This game could be much closer than you think! It has a been a wet, windy and cold day down south, and if the Dees are lucky the gods may spill a bit of water to make it just that bit harder for a Geelong goals onslaught. We all know Gary Ablett is back, and should provide some of his usual brilliance, although he may not get as much game time. Gazza’s Doctor DJ Dream Team Points Scoring Analysis Prediction- 108

Carlton and Port are taking it to The Dome on Saturday. a must win game for the blues if they want to play finals footy, but something in the enclosed Telstra Dome air tells me that they might have to work hard for it. A port upset win wouldn’t surprise me, but then again the blues should be able to handle the matter. Watch Kane Cornes in all his brilliance as he powers on his way to a juicy DT score, Doctor DJ Dream Team Points Scoring Analysis Prediction- 119

Aurora Stadium and all of it’s loyal tassie followers will be enjoying the sights when Hawks play Lions Saturday. Aurora is home for such big DT scores, you could nearly say its a ’performance enhancing oval’. Hawks midfield’s and flankers will definitely enjoy the occassion I would expect some beefed up scores, especially by one Sammy Mitchell who should cruise through the lions army. Doctor DJ Dream Team Points Scoring Analysis Prediction- 124

In probably what’s Match of The Round, The ‘G’ might blow on Saturday Night when Pies and Saints collide. After a tumultuousweek down at the Lexus Centre, the pies will have a point to prove, and even though they might not have Didak and Shaw, expect others such as Dane Swan to perform well. The score predictor likes Dane’s chances. Doctor DJ Dream Team Points Scoring Analysis Prediction- 127. One thing that is for sure is that neither team will go down without a fight in a clash which could have a great impact the final top 8.

Sydney take on Freo at the SCG saturday night in what could be an ugly affair DT wise. Whilst the swans do score well in DT at home, dont expect much from the dockers. Docker’s regular big scorers such as Pavlich…and that’s about it, may not see as much of the ball as usual. Doctor DJ Dream Team Points Scoring Analysis Prediction- Combined DT Total for Fremantle, 72 points.

Super Sunday kicks off with a ‘cracker’ in the Roos and Doggies at the dome. This game many weeks back now was one of the matches of the season, best known for Brad Johnson’s pointer after the siren to give the doggies their first loss of the season. The dogs don’t like getting beaten, and they showed that to the Swans last week after a loss to the blues. The roos do a job in shutting down alot of DT guns, but one who might slip under the radar due to his average form of recent is Robert Murphy. After a stunning first half this season, Murphy has dropped off his early pace, expect some form this week. Doctor DJ Dream Team Points Scoring Analysis Prediction- 104.

In another game which could have a major affect on finals this year is Adelaide vs Richomond. The crows had a thriller of a win against the blues last week whilst the tigers felt a thumping sensation as they went down to the cats. Johncock returns this week after his recent club suspension, and from what I have heard he has been training like a machine. Doctor DJ Dream Team Points Scoring Analysis Prediction- 91.

The final game of the week, in this Round 19, Tom Wills Round, First week of Dream Team Finals, The Eagles host The Bombers. This same game at this same location was the one which saw two legends of football, Hird and Sheedy leave the grand stage. The match looked likely to be a smashing before a miraculous bombers turn around which nearly saw them come home with a win. This game could yet be another close one, it also features arguably this years best two ruckmen, Dean Cox and David Hille going head to head. Brent Stanton who has had some big scores recently could produce again. Doctor DJ Dream Team Points Scoring Analysis Prediction- 109.

AFL Injury Report Round 19 http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/08/05/afl-injury-report-round-19/ http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/08/05/afl-injury-report-round-19/#comments Tue, 05 Aug 2008 11:02:34 +0000 DJ http://dreamteamcouch.wordpress.com/?p=692 ]]>

Well its finals time! And for those who are still in the running for a league win, many may find it hard with the load of injuries coming into the business end….

Jason Porplyzia- Poor Porpy, he has battled hard all year and has been a true DT Gun. Unfortunately, it looks like his season of DT is over, he is set to miss 3-4 weeks, which means best case scenario at this stage is that he could play come league grand finals. Could be an interesting choice on whether you hold on to Porpy or not, because his price has sunken so low (240k), if you have a juicy rookie on your bench, you might find letting him play may be the best option, or if you are strapped for trades/cash. Most likely scenario is that Porpy misses the rest of the DT year, back for AFL finals if the crows make it, a statement by good win aludes to this. http://www.afc.com.au/tabid/4417/Default.aspx?newsid=64835

Chris Knights- A Hammy for Knights, on the positive side it seems only to be a ’slight’ strain and looks likely to miss two weeks. The crows will be keen to get him back a.s.a.p with so must win games coming up if they want to play finals footy.

Heath Shaw- Suffered a brain fade causing him to make an unforgiveable mistake which has in turn put him out for the rest of the year, this brain fade has also had such side effects as an inability to tell the truth. Didak in a similar scenario, but this not his first brain fade.

Scott Lucas- Should be available for selection this week after missing last week with back complaint, be prepared though, his score of 13 two weeks ago could mean another heavy fall in price for lucas. UPDATE, Matthew Knights has stated that lucas is only a ‘50-50′ to play this weekend.

Gary Ablett- Gazza Could be back this week finally! According to the gfc a few weeks ago, Gaz should definately be back by now, hopefully the extra week off has simply been due to the fact that a little rest couldnt hurt and the cats seem to be doing fine without him. Listed as a test, but thankfully geelong has stated that ablett looks very likely to play this week. Thompson stated “he did everything at training so we’d expect that he’d play”. Good news, expect him to come out flying after the few weeks rest he has had.

Paul Chapman- The same cant be said for Ablett’s teammate chappy who looks very likely to miss this week. Bomber Thomson has ensured that the injuries to chapman and wojinski are not serious and the extended rest is precautionary. Thomson said that Chapman, and Wojinski were likely to play in two weeks time Round 20.

Michael Osbourne- Missed last week with a ‘Corked Buttock’, the sort of injury which as most will force someone out 1-2 weeks. Is listed as a test, and it looks like we will not know if he will play this week until tomorow or thursday.

Colin Garland- Has done well warming the bench for a few, but a recent hamstring injury looks like he will be sitting out for the next 2 weeks.

Michael Wilson- If for some reason he is sitting into your DT side, may be time to let him go as he has retired and probably wont score all that much for the rest of the year.

Matthew Richardson- Had an an injury scare saturday night with his knee, but soon returned to the field. Terry Wallace has insisted that he is fine, along with Troy Simmonds and both should line up this week. “He just jarred himself up a little bit and ‘Simmo’ was a bit the same, just at the end of the game. There were no other real issues with the injuries,”

Luke Ball- Had a very nasty hamstring incident on the weekend in which his leg nearly did a 360. Definately going to miss 2 maybe 3 weeks.

Adam Goodes- The latest news from Paul Roos is that Adam Goodes is ”On track” to play this weekend against The Dockers. Goodes trained well on Monday and saying that the swans will be keen to have him back is the understatement of the century. Listed as a test, but things looking the Goodes.

Daniel Kerr- He’s off to have surgery and will miss the rest of 08. Simple as that.

AFL Break Even Bin – Round 18 Break Evens http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/07/30/afl-break-even-bin-round-18-break-evens/ http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/07/30/afl-break-even-bin-round-18-break-evens/#comments Wed, 30 Jul 2008 04:59:12 +0000 Gaz http://dreamteamcouch.wordpress.com/?p=626 ]]>
Ugly..Yes, Bad Dt Score…No

One man, one player, one team, one low price, one pair of great games, One Super Dooper Break Even. Who are we talking about? Do we have to say? Bradd Dalziell! Been under a rock or had your internet cut so that you havn’t been able to hear about this kid and his two gun performances? Okay here’s his story..

Bradd Dalziell, debuted in Round 16 2008 for the Brisbane Lions and on debut scored the brilliant dream team score of 119! Now remember this is his first game and he is only priced at $83,500. Alot of people assumed it was a fluke and that next week he would score a mere 30. Needless to say, he proved them wrong by nailing a very solid 82 The great part is, he’s a tackler, so even if he does not get disposals he still gets good points. He is now two games in with his value about to jump and with an average of 100 expect it to jump alright!!! This is possibly the best pickup of the year if he is jumped on this week!

Okay, Okay, moving on….The Bin, who else gets a mention, the usuals of course, Buddy Franklin, Dean Cox, Cyril Rioli, Heath Shaw, Dean Cox, Gary Ablett, Matthew Pavlich and lots lots more, so jump in the hfebin and open your eyes and you will get a big surprise. We’ll start off with the best break evens for the coming round, here they are…

ROUND 18 LOWEST BREAK EVENS-

  1. Bradd Dalziell (Centre) -136
Allready said nearly everything there is to say about this up and coming gun, however there is one more thing i have to mention. Get him this week, his price will go up about $75,000.
  2. Eric Mackenzie (Defender) -36
Young West Coast defender, only played two games so is ripe and ready to be picked, expect a price rise around the $30,000 mark.
  3. Jarrod Atkinsin (Defender) -16
Same as Mackenzie, young kid only played two games and is in prime picking ripeness, likewise expect a $30,000 price jump this week.
  4. Matthew O’Dwyer (Centre) -16
  5. Ryan O’Keefe (Forward) -14
Very impressed that such an established player has made his way onto this highly desired list. Although he is scoring well and has a decent price, a break even like this only suggests he is still yet to rise considerable value.
  6. Corey Jones (Forward) -6
  7. Joshua Head (Defender) -4
  8. Mark Le Cras (Forward) -2
  9. Callan Ward (Defender, Centre) -1
  10. Addam Maric (Forward) 0

ROUND 18 HIGHEST BREAK EVENS-

  1. Jason Akermanis (Forward) 172
Out of form ever since he did that last handstand, do all the players hate him? He might be gone for 2008. Who knows! What we do know is that he most likely won’t get that break even and will drop about $30,000 in price.
  2. Adam Goodes (Centre) 158
Played injured last week thus the reason he only scored 29, allways unlucky when this happens as it is not the players fault, they didn’t play bad, they were just injured, yet their dream team scores still suffer. Goodesy is set to miss the next couple of weeks anyway.
  3. Barry Hall (Forward) 158
Ahh barry Small. Certainly not a small break even Barry! A below par 37 is the reason he has a dreadful break even. Hally if punching up someone helps you score more dt points then go for it i say!
  4. Matthew Boyd (Centre) 154
  5. Daniel Harris (Centre) 151
  6. Brett Kirk (Centre) 151
  7. Cameron Bruce (Centre) 149
  8. Heath Shaw (Defender) 147
  9. Scott Thompson (Centre) 145
  10. Matt Priddis (Centre) 145

ROUND 18 MOST POPULAR BREAK EVENS-

  1. Lance Franklin (Forward) 112
  2. Cyril Rioli (Forward) 48
  3. Dean Cox (Ruckmen) 115
  4. Jonathan Brown (Forward) 121
  5. Matthew Kruezer (Ruckmen) 21
  6. Jarryd Roughead (Defender, Forward) 120
  7. Daniel Bradshaw (Forward) 70
  8. Chris Judd (Centre) 79
  9. Kurt Tippet (Forward) 86
  10. Michael Osbourne (Defender, Centre) 88

Well that’s all for this weeks trash, Seeya again next week for more all important break evens.

Matthew Pavlich - The big pav is listed as a test, but looks likely to play. Luke Mcpharlin has stated this about pav ”I think he’ll play, but we will see how he goes on the track. He was terrific two weeks ago and was a bit sore last week, so we will find out the day before the game if he will play or not,”. It looks as though it will be a late descision, a pain in the **** for coaches, but im sure he will be keen to make it for the derby.

Rhys Palmer - Despite the club still considering him for surgery, he will play this week. Cant get rid of him after his dominant 31 possie game on the weekend.

Gary Ablett- He is not playing, the word from the cattery. Gazza apparently needs one more week to recover. Wojinski in the same boat.

Adam Goodes- His groin injury does not look the goodes at all! Roos reckons he will be out for 2-3 weeks, couple of days ago it was thought it could be 7 weeks, but this doesnt look the case anymore…….

Club Analysis: Collingwood http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/07/24/club-analysis/ http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/07/24/club-analysis/#comments Thu, 24 Jul 2008 11:12:11 +0000 D-rat http://dreamteamcouch.wordpress.com/?p=551 ]]>

This season Collingwood have won 5585 disposals making them the 9th ranked team in the AFL, but it is the way they have used these disposals that has been delightful. Collingwood has kicked the ball more than any other side this year with 3579 kicks and only 2006 handballs. This fantastic Kick:Handball ratio ranks them as the 4th highest scoring side……

Two Collingwood players in particular, Alan Didak and Paul Medhurst, have really taken on board this trend and between them have amassed 505 kicks and have only chose to handball the ball a measly 103 times this year. This gives these boys a phenomenal Kick:Handball ratio of 5:1. Along with this great stat Alan Didak averages 1.3 goals per game and Medhurst a staggering 2.8. Using these little facts and others gathered from various sources it can be predicted that if either of these players receive only 20 disposals in a game, they will score at least 90 valuable DT points.

Just remember to check out the Kick:Handball ratio next time you go to trade a player (if you have any trades left).

If you have any other players who have great Kick:Handball ratios or any other neat little statistics, enlighten us with some intriguing comments.

Dean Cox Update http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/07/21/dean-cox-update/ http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/07/21/dean-cox-update/#comments Mon, 21 Jul 2008 11:03:48 +0000 DJ http://dreamteamcouch.wordpress.com/?p=508 ]]>

Dean Cox as been a genuine champ this year for DT, through west coast’s crap season, Coxy has been the cream of the crop knocking up big scores week in week out even through injury.

Now, for those who have there is some good news.

Cox copped a knock on the weekend, and is ok to play, but even better is that the eagles seem very keen on playing coxy for the rest of the year, they understand he is aiming at the eagles best and fairest along with AA honours, good on ya eagles.
