Okay well Dj’s big injury report is not untill tomorrow night but due to amount of injuries heres just a quick look at the blokes that are under injury clouds due an injury on the weekend aka Round 20 and could perhaps give them an excuse for a poor score. A full detailed analysis on their injuries will be up Tuesday night.

Okay kick it off with the Collingwood boys, John Anthony was kicked in the head, Shane Wakelyn had back problems, Dale Thomas copped a corkie and Shane O’bree had a thigh problem. Okay Essendon now, Jason Laycock was poked in the eye, David Hille did his hand (out for season), Dustin Fletcher had a groin problem, Courtney Dempsey did a Hammy (out for season). Next up to the plate is Beau Wilkes from West Coast, he copped a ripper of a bump from Jamar. The swans had Tadgh Kennelly pop his shoulder out again, Jarrod Moore had an ankle issue. The Roos had Michael Firrito cop a corkie, Drew Petrie also got a corkie, Matt Campbell had a hamstring problem. Freo’s Andrew Browne was helped off by trainers with a corked calf. Finally, St Kilda’s Jason Gram suffered a corked hip.

Okay so remember this is just a breif write up on what happened during the game on the weekend, it does not mean that all of these players will not play next week, but rather gives you an idea of whos fighting a bit of an injury and may offer an explanation for their low score.

A full injury report by our in site medical doctor, Doctor DJ, will be released tomorrow as usual so make sure your on their for that.

The Injury Report: Round 17 http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/07/22/the-injury-report-round-17/ http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/07/22/the-injury-report-round-17/#comments Tue, 22 Jul 2008 11:31:45 +0000 DJ http://dreamteamcouch.wordpress.com/?p=524 ]]>

DT finals are getting very close now, making the right choices with your injured players is more crucial than ever now with most of us having a very limited amount of trades. Check out some of the big guns and their injury worries.

It also looks to be a bust week for bombers medical staff, with 9 players listed as having tests on their injuries this week! The players include fletcher, monfries, neagle, welsh and pears…..

Jason Porplyzia- Alot of people are sweating on this one, the crows havent released any new info on how he is going, the last we heard was that he is not having surgery and should return in 2-4 weeks (that was last week). He is listed as indefinate, which isnt too great. According to the crows last statement about porpy is that he should be back in 2-3 weeks, stayed tuned for more.

Dennis Armfield- I know a few of us are keen on this boy playing as they need him to come in and cover donuts. He is listed as a test with his finger, even if he passes the test he is no shoe-in for a spot in the side.

Rhys Palmer- Probably one of the biggest injuries going around right now, in the way that it affects so many coaches. Mark Harvey has spoken to the media about palmer having a minor knee injury. Harvey has said the issue is to do with cartilage and when asked if palmer wont play again this year, harvey said “It could be a possibilty, we will just see how he trains this week”. I dont like the sounds of this all that much, when you put the whole scenario together, young talented footballer with a niggling injury in a side which has no chance of playing finals, clubs wouldnt mind resting him, the last thing they want is this minor injury to become major. The positive of this situation is that palmer is vying for individual awards himself such as the rising star, awards which im sure the club and himself are keen on achieving. Stayed tuned for more on this big one.

Gary Ablett- Phew! The whole Ablett out for the rest of the year/life/anklehasfallenoff rumor looks to be untrue, although he is expected to miss this weeks game against the hawks. He is listed as being 1 week away, and the club have already said just recently that if he didnt play this week, he will play the week after. So looks like a round 18 return for gazza.

Cameron Ling- He wants to play this week, but the club is keen on him sitting on the sidelines for 1 or 2 more weeks, which will probably eventuate, he is listed as 1-2 away.

Peter Burgoyne- Listed as a test, and the power website says he is a chance to play. He is already 1 week overdue is original return date, so i suspect him to return (unless port are tanking). We might hear more on this tomorow.

Matthew Richardson- Listed as a test with that hammy, already missed to week, im sure the tigers would be keen to get him back. They play at home this week aswell the tigers, which is always good, teams seem to rather bring players back on a home game than interstate. I reckon the big man should return.

Ryan O’Keefe- BOG on the weekend, also copped an ankle injury. He had treatment on it before coming out in the final quarter and earning himself the inagural “Play of The Week” award. Recently we have seen players with ankle injuries play on in the game, and then miss the following week, this is a possibility for O’keefe. Listed as a test, just recently Paul Roos has said “O’Keefe looks pretty good today”, make what you will of that statement.

Brad Johnson- An ankle sprain against the cats, but soon returned to the field. He looks likely to play this week, the injury list agrees, johno listed as ‘likely’. Should play.

Injury Update: Round 14 http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/06/24/injury-update-round-14/ http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/06/24/injury-update-round-14/#comments Tue, 24 Jun 2008 10:33:20 +0000 DJ http://dreamteamcouch.wordpress.com/?p=370 ]]>

The injuries news is out this week for the upcoming split round, whilst a split round means only one week of dream team over a two week period, it also has a great positive in that it allows players time for their bodies and possible injuries to settle down and recover, and it seems as though the split round has come at the perfect time with many players suffering niggling injuries affecting their performance (cough cough chad).

Lets check out some of the big DT players and how they are going with their injuries…

Andrew Mcleod- Been one of the big stories to come this week, Mcleod needing knee surgery, it sent grown men crying due to their now completely hopeless and depleted backline. He was at first expected to miss 2-3 weeks, but now the feeling is that he may spend 3 maybe 4 weeks on the sidelines. Whilst this is very bad news, the positive in this may be that it could have been the reason for his poor form, and when he returns we may see the Mcleod of old for a very cheap price.

Travis Johnstone- A test will occur this week on his hammy, has missed a few now and even though he is a quality midfielder, i believe the lions might rest him one more week considering they are playing the easiest team in the comp, Melbourne at the MCG, it would mean Bradshaw would have another week off next week due to the split round. Jared Brennan stepped up into Johnstones midfield role and showed he could play, look at Brennan for a good buy in the backline,  if he continues playing midfield he will star i guarantee.

Daniel Bradshaw- In the same boat with Johnstone, both having hammy’s to be tested this week. Bradshaw has seemed to have a delayed comback as it was believed he was a good chance of playing the week after he did his hammy, he has now missed a few weeks. It is believed Bradshaw is right to play even though he is listed as a test, but I wouldnt be surprised if they rested him aswell, his body would certainly be grateful having two more weeks off.

Andrew Walker- Been a long time since he has played (last year). His shoulder surgery has apparently been succesful and should play soon. Even though he is listed as a test, I believe many teams would be keen on giving their players the extra week off in a row to make sure they are 100% fit and ready.

Dennis Armfield- A popular rookie who many jumped on his boat after his first two rounds of footy were sensational for a player of 83k. It was believed he would hold his spot, baring injury of course which in the end sadly occured. He had a finger operation earlier in the week and will be on the sidelines for a few weeks. Will maybe only miss two games.

Bachar Houli- The groin strain looks to leave him on teh sidelines for yet another 1-2 weeks, meaning he may only miss one game. Most people have traded off houli anyway, he was a popular money maker early on in the year.

Daniel Gilmore- Suffered concussion and looks to be tested this week. As i mentioned earlier the split round gives teams the chance to rest players from one more game which will actually get them two weeks off.

Matthew Scarlett- Will be available for the upcoming clash against the crows in a fortnight. The cats will welcome his return but will it cost harry taylor his position for a few weeks?

Matthew Stokes- A late ommision from last weeks game against the eagles, turned out they probably didnt need him anyway. Will definately be available for their match in a fornight.

Chance Bateman- His corky has been giving him troubles, it sat him on the sidelines last week and he will be tested this week for the hawks clash against west coast friday night. Its a game the hawks should win and it is a friday nighter, so the hawks may be keen on resting a few guys.

Shane Crawford- Knee tendonitis has listed him as a test yet again, not sure on when he will return he has been all over the place on his return date.

Brad Sewell- Just a few weeks away from playing now, may only miss the next game after his shoulder surgery.

Hamish Macintosh- Still 7-9 away with his knee injury, roos hope he will return round 22 to give him one game before finals as after the roos win on the weekend, they look likely to make it.

Peter Burgoyne- Officially listed as 2 weeks, which means he may only miss one game, but may miss two , not too sure right now other than port will be keen to get him back only when he is 100% fit for it.

Chad Cornes- Not listed as being injured which is good news, even better news is that they may hold off on Chads surgery until the end of the year. This of course is only good news if chad plays well, there is no use in him scoring like he did on the weekend for the next 7 rounds.

Steven Salopek- Hes been a winner for the port midfield this year so far, sadly an achillies injury will set him back 3-4 weeks, if you have him, might be time to trade.

Kane Johnson- Listed as test but the tigers believe he will alright to return.

Jake King- Same boat as kane, listed as a test but the tigers believe he will return, the tigers want to make finals so i cant see them worrying about resting players unless completely neccesary.

Lenny Hayes- After his stella first quarter last week, he did his hammy. Only listed as a test which is good news, but suspected he will have the week off.

Justin Koreallyshitski- Another injured player on the sainst mammoth injury list, is listed as a test for his knee injury, will be interesting to see what the saints do as they have a few top 22 players all listed as tests this week.

Matt Rosa- 4-6 on his ankle, if you still have him for some reason, get him out.

Scott West- Another 5 weeks on the cards for scott west, this recent blow has been the one which has really led most people to believe its his last year, hopefully he can return before seasons end and finish his career playing footy, not on the sidelines.

Shaun Higgins- Just one more week of for higgo is the go with his ankle injury, may not star this year but watch out, next year will tear it up.

Bradshaw did his hammy on the weekend leaving him with 6 points.Another week in Football means another week of the major dilemna for coaches, injuries. Updates on major DT players are as follows.

Brad Symes: His ankle sprain which was at first only gonna cost him a couple of games on the sidelines turned ugly and has ended up putting him out for 6 weeks now and he is still not expected to return until next week, round 13.

Daniel Bradshaw- Pulled his hammy to the dismay of many as he has been a very popular choice this year. Managed a measly 6 points before the hammy struck, wouldnt you be shattered if you had him as captain? The extent of his injur…y is still unknown, common for many hamstring injuries over the first few days. Stayed tuned this week for more news on Bradshaw, so far Bradshaw is To Be Assesed.

Josh Drummond- Has had his injury issues this year missing the first few games, then recently did his hammy. Was a DT gun last year and could solve some backline woes if he gets a decent string of games under his belt. Will be tested this week on his hammy, stay tuned.

Jason Roe- One of six players on the lions list with hammys, might need to work on touching your toes fella’s, will also be tested this week on his hamstring.

Andrew Walker- The carlton defender/midfield hasnt played a game this year due to shoulder surgery in the pre-season. Should be available for return in 2-3 weeks, good news for carlton and dream teamers because this guy is a gun. Classed as a backman, he averaged 20 touches a game last year and is just 22 years old. Classed as a backman and will be a very handy inclusion into DT sides either this year or next.

Simon Prestigiacomo- The Legend of DT (not) will be back in 2-3 weeks from his foot injury, this is not news which should impact your team because you should not let it cross your mind ever to put this man into your side, good player, bad dream teamer.

Ricky Dyson- After having his appendix taken out a couple of weeks ago will be available this week, looked promising at the start of this year to many coaches but hasnt quite lived up to expectations.

Jobe Watson- One of the main midfielders in essendons depleted centreline, will have a test this week on his knee. Since he has been out of the side Stanton has had some good form, wonder if this is coincidence or a genuine impact on his performance.

Mattew Scarlett- Hammy on the weekend for the rarely injured full back, looks to miss 2 weeks, initial it was thought to be 2-3 weeks so i wouldnt be sure on putting a set date on his return, you really never can with soft tissue injuries.

Stuart Dew- Available this week after his second hammy of the year, thats what a year off football and constantly on the piss does to your body. Popular player who may put on a smile on many coaches faces with his inclusion.

Shane Crawford- Crawf is getting on, and his body is showing it. Injured his knee and it is not known how long he will be out for. Will be assesed this week but things dont look to good for him.

Chance Bateman- Corked thigh will have him tested this week, a suprise packet gun this year similar to many of the Hawks back’s and midfielders.

Brent Guerra- The man who pulled 161 this year also pulled his hammy a while ago. Has been out for 4 weeks and should still miss one more and be ready round 13.

Brad Sewell- His shoulder has put him on the sidelines and under the knife, 4-5 weeks out is expected with 6-7 the initial thought last week.

Brent Moloney- Word is he has hurt his shoulder, but i saw the game on the weekend and watched him come off with a wrist injury? Either way is still to be assesed.

Corey Jones- The forward who is not having his greatest season was a withdrawl last week due to an ankle injury, will have a test this week.

Nathan Thompson- A knee injury put the big full forward out last week against the cats, will also be tested this week.

Brett Ebert- His ankle injury which occured in a game where he kicked 6 goals is not as bad as first thought and will be tested this week.

Kane Johnson- A knee injury is still sidelining him for 2-3 weeks, been a quality dream teamer showing some great form before his injury a couple of weeks ago.

Mark Coughlan- Had special hammy treatment in Germany with the same bloke who fixed up max rooke before last years grand final. His return is still indefinite.

Ben McKinley- Young full forward has shown some form for the eagles this year. Injured his shoulder and will be tested.

Matt Rosa- Ankle injury sidelining him for a further 5-7 weeks, not a bad performer in DT.

Brian Lake- Big Brian should be right for return this week after bruising his knee (oh poor baby).

Shaun Higgins- Still 6 weeks away with his ankle injury, a real gun player who i see as being a very good player next year upon full recovery.

Chad Cornes- Interestingly enough not listed as being injured, understatement on the injury there or is Mark Williams bullshitting about his knee issues, if you havent already hear Chad apparently has some serious issues with cartilege in his knee about could require surgery which would put him out for 5 weeks. Also has his finger problems (just cut it off you wuss). But, when surgery is performed on knee cartliege it normally puts one out for about three months, 12 weeks, a bit off Mark William’s prediction of 5 weeks. This mysterious knee issue is certainly interesting so stayed tuned later this week when i get to the bottom of whats going on with chads knee.

Chapman could be back this week, but at the expense of which geelong player?Round 10 saw injuries once more to a few popular DT players, but most of the injury news recently is in regard to already injured players who may have a quick recovery, and injured players who may be spending more time on the sidelines than hoped so. Some big DT players who are facing their troubles with injury include;

Brad Symes- A very popular DT player at the start of the year who in the following weeks did not dissapoint until he was struck down with an ankle sprain. Whilst it may seem for a big tough footy player an ankle sprain would me a mediocre issue, this is not always the case as shown with Brad Ottens and now Brad Symes. He hasnt played since round 5 and was expected to miss 3 weeks, this has stretched out to 6 weeks and is expected to return round 12. He has been wearing the big moon boot on his foot for a while until just today when he finally got it off. Its expected he should be able to start some running later on this week. Many will be a tad disapointed in seeing he is still two weeks away, especialy those who have had him on the bench for four weeks now.

Cameron Cloke- The big man from the blues who has been in surprisingly good form this year will have a test this week for his injured wrist which he had surgery on a few weeks ago. He was expected to return this week and it seems as though he has recovered well and should hopefully play.

Bret Thornton- The knee which he injured in round 6 should be right this week for a return. Thornton was listed in the blues starting 22 last week but pulled out at the last minute. He is listed as a ‘test’ for this week but i expect a definate return from him, the blues will need it as well due to key defender Waite being outed for a week at the tribunal.

Scott Lucas- The big could be back this week, the bombers have sorely missed him since he injured his posterior crutiate ligament (knee) in round one this year. He will be tested this week and i would think the bombers would be keen on getting him right to play, although the bombers do play friday night in adelaide which wouldnt help his case, clubs arent usually to keen on bringing a guy straight back from injury to play interstate. Scotty could be a decent buy in a few weeks, even though his price is a hefty 384k, he scored 18 in his only game of the year so his price will plummet very quickly.

Ricky Dyson- Had his appendix taken out and is expected to miss 3, bit week id say from Dyson, a champ named Jimmy B had his appendix out a while ago and missed only one week, they build them tough down at Geelong.

Paul Chapman- Pulled out late last week to the dismay of many with hammy tightness, chappy will have a test this week for the blues game on saturday night but i would be very surprised if he didnt play should be available. BUT WAIT, this return could have a great negative impact on many dream teamer’s, Bomber Thomson likes to move his young gun’s from VFL to AFL quite consistently, he has done so over the years with such guns as Bartel and Ablett, the both of them didnt play every game in their first year even though they were probably capable. Its very common for the cats to constantly drop their young guys down to the VFL for a few weeks even if they have been playing pretty well in the AFl, with the exception of genuine superstars (Selwood). Since Chappy and Gamble are similar players in that they often wind up in the forward pocket and flank, Gamble may find him at the raw end of the stick in a Chapman inclusion and might find himself in the VFL. Gamble’s game against the pies was not the most impressive he has had, but hopefully he holds his spot as i see a big score for him if he plays the blues.

Stuart Dew- Hammy again for Dew, but this time not as bad it seems as though it is simply hamstring tightness. He is still to be assessed about it, hammy’s can take their time before the doc’s can really understand the severity of the injury. The hawks stated that he could be right to play this week but will not know for a couple of days. Stayed tuned on the couch for more details about this.

Shane Crawford- Crawf pulled out last week with some knee swelling, sounds a bit like an old man’s injury, he will be tested this week.

Jordan Lewis- In the same boat as Crawf in that he pulled out last week and will be tested this week with his corked thigh.

Luke Hodge- Another struck down with a hammy at the hawks, he is expected to return in 1-2 weeks. He injured it in the third quater in round 7, at this stage it was seen as a 3-4 week injury and this presumption looks on target at this stage. It may be known exactly when he should return later on this week.

Brent Guerra- Hawks Hammy again, Guerra looks to miss 3 more weeks. Still got him on the sidelines? you may want to rethink that, 3 consecutive donuts is about as filthy as a seedy 60 year old man standing out the front of a primary school.

Nathan Carroll- Was supposed to be accepted back into the dee’s side last week as he had booked an appointment for the hairdressers thursday arvo but sadly missed this appointment so his hair still looks shit. Has booked in for a cut on wednesday and should hopefully have a socially acceptable haircut by the weekend so he can be allowed to play, (hammy 1 week away).

Colin Sylvia- The hammy is doing its rounds in the AFL, sylvia will be tested with his hammy this week.

Daniel Wells- After a great start against the dogs last week injured his knee, he is expected to miss 1-2.

Brett Ebert- Booted 6 on the weekend in his best game for a while, whilst doing this also managed to injure his ankle. Was expected to miss 2 weeks, but it has obviously come up much better than though and will be tested this week, i dont know about his chances of playing though.

Andrew Raines- His knee which he injured in round 3 has finally come up. He will be available to play this week.

Tadhg Kennelly- His dislocated knee is coming along as expected and will be tested this week. I would think he would be around a 50/50 at this stage, could be a very big inclusion for many DTer’s.

Barry Hall- Just a reminder he is only two weeks away from playing with his broken wrist, his suspension would be up by this stage, his comeback game will be a spectacle, watch out if you have henry playfair i cant see him holding his spot at the return of Hall.

Daniel Kerr- His ankle will be tested this week, hasnt been the greatest year for Kerr, struggling with the tag’s and missing his midfield buddie’s a fair bit.

The one and only, ChadThis week may see some notable DT guns come back to play some footy, or it may not, many gun players have injuries where it is not quite sure exactly when they will return,  especially with the hammy injuries. Major dream team guns who have found themself on the injury list are shown below…

Brad Symes- The ankle injury which made many dream teamers pull their hair out may leave some bald at the news that he is still 2-3 weeks from playing. This only creates more issues in this years backline depression especially for those who have had him on the bench waiting for his return.

Cameron Cloke- A suprise DT packet this one, wasnt expected to average as well as he did in the first few rounds which prompted many to pick him up, sadly hurt his wrist but should be back in one week.

Bret Thortan- Another backman who at the start of the year had many jump on him, all whom would have been disapointed when did his knee. He was a suprisingly high scorer for the type of player he was and should find himself back in the blues squad in 1 or 2 weeks, cant argue with backliners coming back they are in great demand.

Josh Fraser- His knee which was injured in the tribute match has looked to come up and will have a test to see if he can play this week, stayed tuned for more info.

Jobe Watson- One of the best in the bombers midfield, which shows just how poor their midfield actually is, his bruised back will be tested this week.

Scott Lucas- The knee he injured earlier this year is coming along as planned and should be back in 1-2 weeks.

Brad Ottens- Apparently one week away, funny he was also apparently one week away about 7 weeks ago! obviously having issues and when he comes back i dont rate his chances of being full recovered it sounds as though it has become something ongoing his foot injury.

Luke Hodge- His hammy is two weeks away, but gotta watch out with hammy’s one you have pulled one many say you can never heal 100%, hopefully hodge’s hammy is an exception to this  as he is a complete gun.

Brent Guerra- The boys down at hawthorn might be working the hamstrings to hard as they currently have 3 fellas with pulled hammys. Guerra did his this weekend just to create more issues for the abysmal backline and is expected to miss 3-4.

Nathan Carroll- Not injured but simply not allowed to play due to his shit haircut, is likely to return in a weeks time after some serious work at the hairdresses, (actually pulled hammy).

Chad Cornes- The big Chad could be back this week!!! great news for many dream teamers which may also cure many individuals depression. But he still must have a test this week so at this stage not too sure about whether he will or wont play, he trained partially today with a bloody big cast on his hand. Stayed tuned for more info.

Mark Coughlan- Another player who has been cut down by his damn hammy, a real shame for coughlan who looked like returning to AFL after almost two years out from footy. It is not known as to when he will return, has been sent to germany for radical work on his hammy from the same fella who did Max Rooke last year.

Andrew Raines- Another possible backline inclusion (hooray) will be tested this week on his knee but i dont know if i would reccomend buying him. The richmond backline has Newman and King as their main ballwinners down their so dont expect him to see too much of it.

Nick Riewoldt- The man who was supposed to be out for 7 weeks at first is now going to be tested for playing AFL this week? the saint has either made an extremely speedy recovery or the Saints have become very desperate and stupid, i would stay away it seems as though he has come back too soon.

Ed Barlow- Another Hammy!! will be tested this week.

Tadhg Kennelly- Hurt his shoulder in the first quater to come back on and play then did his knee!! arghh enough to send some dream teamers who had him mad. Good news is though he may only miss 1-2 weeks so if you are low on trades (e.g. POM) you may be able to chuck him on the bencharoonie and hopefully have an emergency to chuck in.

Big Bad Bustling Barry- Hall is only 3 weeks away with his wrist injury, even if you arent keen on chucking him in your side his comeback game should be entertaining.

Beau Waters- His Groin is going along ok and should return in a week.

Scott West- Set to return in two weeks in what many believe will be this top dog’s last year.

Another eventful week for Dream Team, fortunately there wasnt much action with injuries this week,  with only five recorded injuries from the weekend’s matches.

The Injury Prone Kennelly was struck down once more by the football gods as he suffered a dislocated knee, might i add he also hurt his shoulder in the first quater, maybe employ the tactics used by Malceski’s surgeon and totally redo Kennelly’s body artificially.

Drum Pulled his hammy in the game against carlton, whilst Jamieson also injured his shoulder against the lions but is still believed to be a chance for there next game against freo. Guerra, one player who has been a shining light in this years bleak backline did his hammy on the weekend and Obst also suffered a punctured lung.

Is Brennan the backline saviour we have been looking for?Having a chat to a bloke the other day about his Dream Team, i asked him what gun players he has. He named them, Corey, Mitchell, Carrazzo, Cox, Buddy, Cross, the list went on. Then i asked him about his backline. As soon as the words left my mouth his head dropped and with a sorrow monotone he said”i dont want to talk about it”.

Yes, it has pretty much been a disastrous year for the backline so far, inconsistent players, form drops, injuries. With so much poor performances there has really only been two guys who can consistently pull the big numbers (Chornes and Shaw) and even know one of them is injured. These melancholy performances must come to an end in the backline, there has been too much pain suffered by Dream Teamers as they see their players scoring terribly. Sure there has been some good single game performances, but these are normally backed up by a bloody 30!

In the backlinethis year, behind Heath Shaw, the biggest scorer has been jake king with 638, a score which sits him in only 22nd position in the mids. 2nd vs 22nd is appalling, what happened to the good old centres who were classed as backliners, those were the days. Some will say Nathan Bock has been good this year, well yes he has been alright, but the inconsistency hurts like a bitch, scoring only two 100’s for a guy ranked 3rd. Same case with Brent Guerra who is ranked 4th, score 161one week, backs it up with 55! Its gone too far, there must be some players out there who are capable of consistently pulling the big numbers, and im here to show you just who they might be…

Some of these guys are commonly found in dream teams, others are seemed to be no go players and others in the past have been Dream Team suicide, but i believe these are the outsiders who are capable of doing it for you.

Tadhg Kennelly- I really see this guy as being able to pull some big scores if he stops getting injured and doesnt get tagged out of it. It will be interesting to see how he goes with malceski’s return, if Kennelly spends most of his time on the wing, get him, he will pull scores such as the 108 and 99 he has this year.

Peter Burgoyne- Once a dream team champion, always a dream team champion. I reckon Burgoyne has enough in his to pull out some consistent big ones, especially after his ball winning performance in the tribute match. His performance proved that he is one of the best in the comp, its not easy playing like that when you are surrounded by the best of the best. Averaged 90 last year, averaging 82 this year and at 340k, i reckon he is worth it, perfect replacement for Symes if you can afford.

Joel Macdonald- Dont know too much about this guy, but his past Dream Team scores have looked alright. In career best form in his 5th year. Already gone up 51k to sit at 326k. Averaging 85 and with two hundreds and a 94 to his name, he looks alright.

Jared Brennan- Yes thats right Brennan, now before you say “But Mr DJ, Brennan is Shithouse” hear me out. He was taken at pick number 3 for the lions (the number which Judd was taken at i might add) so the lions obviously rate him very highly, it was also ]the lions highest pick they have had for 10 years im sure they wouldn’t waste it. He enters his 6th year of AFL this year, andthe reason behind his inconsistency over the years is because the lions are continually trying to find out what position he plays best in. He has shown glimpses in the backline and forward line but hasnt been given a red hot go in the middle, that is until recently. He played the first 5 games of the year mainly down back until at the Gabba against Melbourne two weeks ago they moved him to the middle. He played sensationally, getting 23 touches and 9 marks, receiving 4 votes from the herald sun and scoring 105 DT points, very nice. The week after down at skilled stadium he was again assigned a spot in the middle where he got himself another 23 touches and9 marks on his way to a best on ground by the herald sun and 99 Dream Team points.

Brennan is a good footballer, the only reason by he has been a poor dt’er is because he has been thrown around over the years in all different positions causing inconsistency. If he keeps his spot in the middle, with form like the past two weeks I’m guessing he might, he will be a very good dream teamer. I have him in my side, a side which also scored 2211 and came 5th in Australia a few weeks back (sorry, had to chuck it in) and i see him as a real talent as long as he stays in the midfield. Hes only 310k, maybe hold off one more week to see if he stays in the midfield and then jump on him. He could quite possibly be the DT surprise packet of the year.

Daniel Kerr will be on the sidelines for a few weeksWith many players having the week off last week, it should do some good in the footballing world. Yes there were unfortunately some injuries in the Tribute Match, and at training (good work Chad Jones, hate to put yourself out for 7 weeks by tripping over).

There are still a fair few DT guns who are having injury issues, popular DT players who are having injury issues are listed below.

WHO IS OUT :(

Brad Symes- Popular DT player who is still struggling with an ankle sprain, is expected to miss this week and hopefully be back for round 9. Maybe a very small chance to play but i wouldn’t buy it, if he is in your side your going to have to do some serious thinking about whether to stick with him or get him out, personally, im gonna get rid of him and chuck in P Burgoyne. His tribute match performance was sensational.

Bret Thortan- Still a fair while for this fella, round 12 at best.

Josh Fraser- Knee injury in tribute match which is not as bad as first expected, should be back round 10 if things go well.

Scott Lucas- Been out for 8 weeks now but could return in round 10, just giving a heads up for any DT’ers who are keen for a powerforward.

Luke Hodge- Hammy he pulled is going along as expected, will come back in round 11 hopefully. If you have him in your side 3 games is a fair few 0’s for a key player and there are plenty of good midfielders out there to do a swaparoony with.

Aaron Edwards- His fractured fibula wont be back until around round 15, an injury caused by tunneling many believe.

Chad Cornes- The Chad is looking at a round 10 return right now, still not too sure on exactly which week he will return but round 10 looks the go.

Andrew Raines- Round 9 return for Raines.

Nick Riewoldt- The gun from the saints wont be seeing any action until around round 11 due to his knee.

Steven King- Hammy cut him down in round 5 and then once more in round 7, looking at a round 10 return.

Daniel Kerr- Hurt his ankle in the tribute match, will probably miss a few weeks and be back round 11-12.

Matt Priddis- Could be back round 9 due to his Knee injury.

Scott West- Still being assesed with his knee injury, indefinate at this stage.

Brad Ottens- The big ruckman from geelong won’t return this week with Bomber Thompson telling the press Brad can’t overcome the final hurdle of his injury and that there is no set return date for the premeirship star.

WHO IS IN DOUBT

Simon Black- Pulled out from the cats clash as a late withdrawl because of a groin injury, also missed the tribute match. Muscle strains and tears are often hard to put a set date on when the player will be able to return, so Black is  probably a 50/50 to play at this stage. I reckon he might come back this week though.

Travis Johnstone- Not too sure about whether he will play this week, did his hammy in round 7 so has had a few weeks to recover, some say he is a 50/50 to play this weekend.

James Polkinhore- Like i have said before, he does have a silly name, but isnt a bad bench warmer. Will have a test to see if he can play this week.

Sam Lonergan- His hammy might be alright to play this week, will have a fitness test.

Mark Mcveigh- In the same boat as Lonergan, although his is a tad more serious and might not be in for a game for another week.

Luke McPharlin- Will have a test this week to see if his ‘Buttock Injury’ is alright for the weekend.

GARY ABLETT!!!- Thats right the champ could again miss this weekend! the calf isnt pulling up to well and i wouldnt  like my chances on him playing this weekend as they do play richmond and may want to give him another week to rest.

Nick Malceski- Classed him as in doubt as he may line up for the reserves this week, great news for malceski considering the seriousness of his Knee ACL.

WHO IS OK :)

Josh Drummond- Available to play after a quad strain.

Craig Bolton- Concussion in the Tribute match looks good to go this week.

Ablett and Ottens have both been given fitness tests this week and are around a 50/50 to play against richmond this round. The news probably not the most pleasant for those who have Ablett, as it will be his second donut in as many games, also will affect his brownlow chances. On the upside having Ottens back again opens up another option in the ruck, but i wouldnt reccomend it unless you really are in need. Otto has been out of footy for over two months now and he is a pricey $356k. Its a shame he isnt available as a forward line player as the ruck this year has been a two man show in Simmonds and Cox, who nearly half of the dream team population have as their ruckmen.
