Break Even Bin – Round 19 AFL Break Evens http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/08/06/break-even-bin-round-19-afl-break-evens/ http://dreamteamcouch.com/2008/08/06/break-even-bin-round-19-afl-break-evens/#comments Wed, 06 Aug 2008 02:31:00 +0000 Gaz http://dreamteamcouch.wordpress.com/?p=703 ]]>

“The Bin is back!”. Everyones favourite trash can has been wheeled back out for Round 19 aka the first round of DT Finals! Just for this very special finals occasion we have in store an extra big edition of the break even bin so that every break even can be taken into account. How big is this weeks Bin? Well normally there are the top 10 for each category, not this week! This week there are 25 break evens for each category. That’s a massive 75 break evens all up.

Okay in the event your new to the site for finals here’s a quick round up of what the ‘Break Even’ is. A break even is a score a player must get the coming week in order for them to retain there current calue. For example Gary Ablett has a break even of 215 (He actually does this week), this means that if he scores below 215 he will drop in value, if he scores above it he will rise in value and if he scores exactly 215 he will stay the same.

Moving on…who features in the Break Even Bin this week? Lots and Lots of players but of course the usual suspects will all feature including Buddy Franklin, Dean Cox, Gary Ablett and Cyril Rioli. Also like usual we will kick it off with the weeks lowest break evens and here…they are

ROUND 19 BEST / LOWEST BREAK EVENS

This is the category every player aspires to be in, a low break even mean the player has a good chance of getting it and therefore rising in value.

1. Bradd Dalziell (Centre) -57
2. Addam Maric (Forward) -49
3. Scott Selwood (Defender / Centre) -23

8. Andrew Welsh (Defender) -7
9. Jordan Lewis (Centre) -1
10. Callan Ward (Defender, Centre) -1
11. Scott Clouston (Defender) 0
12. Ryan Lonie (Centre) 0
13. Stephen Gilham (Defender) 0
14. Mitchell Farmer (Centre / Forward) 0
15. Nick Salter (Defender / Forward) 0
16. Mark Austin (Defender) 2

ROUND 19 WORST / HIGHEST BREAK EVENS

The Category every player hates to be in, having a lrage break even means there is not a good chance the player will be able to get that score, therefore a price drop looks to be on the cards for players in this list.

2. Gary Ablett (Centre) 215
3. Brent Stanton (Centre) 179
4. Andrew Embley (Centre) 172

His crisp figure isn't getting him good break evens

Here comes the now world known catch phrase……..”The Bin is Back!” Yep that’s right the Round 17 Break Evens are in and so should your attention because there are some absolute pearlers this week with our great mate, Nicky Stevens taking out the worst break even award which i’m not particularly impressed about since he is in my team. On the posotive side however Geelong defender Matty Scarlett has worked himelf into brilliant form and also worked himself onto the best break evens list, compliments go out to you Matha-yew. Finally we re visit old territory that really isn’t that old in Buddy Franklin, he’s a fan favourite, a crowd pleaser, a goal kicker, a tall guy, has a nice haircut, could win the Coleman medal and former gun dream teamer and that is why he features in the Bin. Read more to get all the juicy break evens…

As we say every week, the Bin is Back!!! This week it’s no different our same old favourite segment is back and just like ever other edition of the Break Even Bin you cannot afford to miss it. For those who read the segment every week you know what’s going on however for those of you who are new to the Break Even Bin, here’s what goes on; Each week we take a look at who has the best, the worst and the most popular break evens for the up and coming round. A break even of course is the score in which a player must get in order to maintain their value. This week as usual we will feature the big names such as Gary Ablett, Marc Murphy, Shane Valenti, Lance Franklin, Heath Shaw and Dean Cox as well as lots more, so what are you waiting for, get reading!

HURRY THROW IT OUT, IT STINK! – WORST BREAK EVENS

1. Gary Ablett (Geelong) 213
Most likely going to miss two weeks with an ankle injury only makes matters worse for those who have him by adding on a whopping break even of 213. Not really Ablett’s fault, didn’t play in the midfeild against the Crows then was on fire against Fremantle (65 late in the second quarter) and he rolls his ankle.
2. Marc Murphy (Carlton) 165
Unlucky for Murphy who many have beleived has had a great year. Unfortunately his score of 47 last week against the Saints has meant that he will be looking to drop about $20,000.
3. Brad Sewell (Hawthorn) 154
4. Robert Murphy (Western Bulldogs) 154
Alot of people will be very, very dissapoionted to see one of the Gun forwards of the year on the bad break even list, ufortunately for Murphy two scores of 69 and 57 have killed his break even, not surprised to see him drop over $15,000 this week.
5. Michael Doughty (Adelaide) 145
6. Ben Johnson (Collingwood) 143
7. Bernie Vince (Adelaide) 141
8. Simon Black (Brisbane) 133
9. Damon White (Port Adelaide) 132
10. Travis Johnstone (Brisbane) 131

ONE MANS TRASH IS ANOTHER MANS TREASURE – BEST BREAK EVENS

1. Ben Ross (Kangaroos) -42
2. Stefan Martin (Melbourne) -37
3. John Anthony (Collingwood) -33
4. Shane Valenti (Melbourne) -32
This guy is a gun, allready sky rocketing in value and yet the good news is, it’s not too late to still jump on him, currently sitting on $160,00 by the end of the season will look to be around the $270,00.
5. Nick Lower (Port Adelaide) -19
6. Nicholas Smith (Sydney) -19
7. Robert Eddy (St Kilda) -16
8. Tom Lonergan (Geelong) -13
9. Matthew Scarlett (Geelong) -13
Very interesting to see Scarlo, a premium defender of the AFL on this list, why you ask? The answer, a score of 4 in round 11 followed by 2 weeks off has now got himself a nice break even of -13.
10. Lachlan Hansen (Kangaroos) -10

BIG BRAND GARBAGE – POPULAR PLAYERS HAVE THEIR B.E REVIEWED

1. Lance Franklin (Hawthorn) 73
2. Cyril Rioli (Hawthorn) 53
3. Heath Shaw (Collingwood) 92

The Bin is BACK! Firstly a little apology about ther lack of posts lately, been a bit caught up in other things. Moving on one of the Couch’s favourite segments, the Break Even Bin, proudly brought to you by Celebrity Publishing is now moving on to take a look at the Round 15 break evens. As usual the best, worst and most popular break evens will be on show. Buddy, Big Cox, JB, Shawy, Valenti, Richo and Gazza will all take a jump into the bin, so let’s get into it and start with the best Break Evens;

ONE MAN’S TRASH IN ANOTHER MAN’S TREASURE – BEST BREAK EVENS

1. Robert Eddy (St Kilda) -62
St Kilda youngster who has shown good form in the last two weeks, has only played two games which means he has ripened and is ready to be picked with you benefiting from the massive price jump sure to come over the next 5 games he plays. Scored 74 and 45 in the ;ast two weeks and providing he scores around his average this week of 60 you can expect a first week price jump of around $40,000.
2. Tom Collier (Brisbane) -38
Young Brisbane Defender who has also played just two games so he is at the perfect stage to be included in your 30 man squad. 64 and 39 in Round 13 & 14 means he will look to jump around $30,000 this week providing he plays again.
3. Shane Valenti (Melbourne) -38
4. Brent Renouf (Hawthorn) -34
5. Jake Edwards (Carlton) -30
6. Lachlan Hansen (Kangaroos) -23
7. Jarryd Allen (St Kilda) -16
8. Nick Lower (Port Adelaide) -15
9. John Anthony (Collingwood) -13
10. Joel Bowden (Richmond) -10
Had to give this guy a mention, it’s very rare that such an established player who started the year over $400,000 gets himself into this list. However we all know the deal with Bowden. His comeback has been the reason why he finds himself on this list. He is now only $370,000 and has scored a fantastic 180 & 117 in his last two games. Look for him to rise about $30,000+.

HURRY THROW IT OUT, IT STINKS! – WORST BREAK EVENS

1. Scott Thompson (Adelaide) 199
So consistent early in the year but having the Pink Pig (Cam Ling) follow him around last week has put him on this list. Scores of 59 and 80 in the last two rounds has killed his price and a durther drop of $30,000 plus this week looks to be on the cards.
2. Matthew Richardson (Richmond) 179
Dissapointing to see Richo Man on the Worst Break Evens chart after he was having such a super year. A score of 48 has killed him last week after he spent a fair bit of time on the bench and now Doctor DJ reports he could miss more games. Cmon Richo.
3. Simon Black (Brisbane) 164
4. Brock McLean (Melborne) 159
5. Gary Ablett (Geelong) 154
Gary Ablett is in the bad list now and unfortunately looks as though his price might take a drop with him only scoring 78 last week. His once mighty price of $500,000 plus looks as though it could be down around $480,000 next week.
6. Damien Peverill (Essendon) 151
7. Jonathan Brown (Brisbane) 150
8. Nick Dal Santo (St Kilda) 145
9. Jarrad McVeigh (Sydney) 145
10. Jason Akermanis (Bulldogs) 145

BIG BRAND TRASH – MOST POPULAR BREAK EVENS

1. Lance Franklin (Hawthorn) 142
2. Cyril Rioli (Hawthorn) 74
3. Dean Cox (West Coast) 68
4. Heath Shaw (Collingwood) 27
5. Matthew Kruezer (Carlton) 43
6. Matthew Pavlich (Fremantle) 105
7. Jarryd Roughead (Hawthorn) 42
8. Kurt Tippet (Adelaide) 20
9. Rhys Palmer (Fremantle) 98
10. Chris Judd (Carlton) 107

Well that’s all for this week in the Bin, if by any chance there is a specific players break even that was not included in this weeks edition just post a comment and either one of the Couch boys or a member of the Dream Team public who knows their stuff will get back to you.

No buddy! Up is not where your price is going this week!!!The bin is back for Round 14, yep round 14’s edition of the break even bin is here and with it is, as allways, some very interesting break evens. Like usual we will have the very good break evens, the very bad break evens and the very popular break evens. Also like usual we will have some big name players featuring in this segment that allways seams to cause a bit of debate. Who are those players your thinking? This week in the bin a couple of Hawthorn youngsters including the possible B.O.T.Y (Buy of the Year) candidate, Jarryd Morton, are at the top of the best break evens. Unfortunately for the hawks one of their bigger and more LOVED players also leading the Worst break even category. As for most popular, ‘the little champion, who has a big, big price’, Gary Ablett is up there as usual. So for all the break evens this week that matter

HURRY THROW IT OUT, IT STINKS! – WORST BREAK EVENS

1. Lance Buddy Franklin (Hawthron) 184
Unforunate for Buddy, he’s had such an impressive year and for him now to be leading the worst break evens list is sad. He can only blame himself though with two pathetic scores in the last two weeks = 66 and 49. Expect his price to drop $25,000+.
2. Shaun Burgoyne (Port Adelaide) 171
Putting it simply. This is what happens when you are priced at $360,000 and you get a score of 41. Be ready for him to drop in price this week also by around $25,000+.
3. Jason Akermanis (Western Bulldogs) 166Obviosley just seen his break even for round 14!
Has been in such great form of recent times it is unfortunate for Aker that he scored only 56 in round 13 thus making him end up here, on the worst break evens list. Well priced stil at $409,000 but be ready for him to drop below $400,000!
4. Alan Didak (Collingwood) 165
5. Kane Cornes (Port Adelaide) 161
6. Scott Thompson (Adelaide) 160
7. Adam Bentick (Carlton) 160
8. Daniel Giansiracusa (Western Bulldogs) 150
9. Steven Slaopek (Port Adelaide) 148
10. Michael Johnson (Fremantle) 147

ONE PERSONS TRASH IS ANOTHERS TREASURE – BEST BREAK EVENS

1. Shane Valenti (Melbourne) -60
Every week’s the same, he is at the top of this list but Melbourne won’t play him, GRRRR!
2. Brent Renouf (Hawthron) -33
Here’s something to take note of. New kid on the block, priced at only $83,500 and has scored 32 and 66 in his last and only two games of 2008. He now has a handy break even and is set to go up in price by over $26k. Do you know what the best part is? He’s a ruckman!!!
3. Jarryd Morton (Hawthorn) -29
Well since i do the break even segment i get to have a good look at the break evens each week and so i jumped on this guy as soon as he had played two games, sincd then he’s earned me $110k in three weeks scoring 82 and 98 in his last two games. He has a brillikant break even and is set to go up a further $32,000+. The best news is, it’s not too late to jump on board, he still has at least another 4 weeks of good price rise left in him!Earned his way into the top 10
4. Colin Garland (Melbourne) -13
5. Mark Nicoski (West Coast) -13
6. Tom Lonergan (Geelong) -6
7. Gavin Urguhart (Kangaroos) -2
8. Callan Ward (Western Bulldogs) -1
9. Angus Monfries (Essendon) 0
10. Mark Williams (Hawthron) 2

POPULAR BREAK EVENS – THE BIG NAMES HAVE THEIR B.E’s REVIEWED

1. Cyril Rioli (Hawthorn) 92
Still highly selected which is slightly surprising since he definately has peaked.
2. Dean Cox (West Coast) 106
Coxy is easily capable of getting this.
3. Jonathan Brown (Brisbane) 141
JB looks as though he has now peaked to, althoug he is capable of getting the 141 needed to retain his price, it is not likely.
4. Matthew Kruezer (Carlton) 42
Starting to play decent footy averaging 56 in his last 3 games and 67 last week he should get this low break even.
5. Heath Shaw (Collingwood) 77
Has hopefully returned to form, AS LONG AS HE DOESNT GET TAGGED! 77 should be an easy target for Heath and should push his price back up.
6. Gary Ablett (Geelong) 116
Well, well, well what can we say, possibley the best dream teamer this year has what for other players would be considered a very big break even, however when you have scored 135, 118, 123, 148, 127, 147 in your last six games and have a price of over $500,000, 116 isn’t really that bad.
7. Matthew Pavlich (Fremantle) 79
Pav will get this and will look to rise in price by as much asPEAKED! $10,000.
8. Jarryd Roughead (Hawthorn) 68
Very gettable for Roughead who has an average of 83 over the last 3 rounds.
9. Rhys Palmer (Fremantle) 98
Well it looks like the current B.O.T.Y (Buy of the Year) has finally peaked and may not be able to crack this break even of 98 after only 87 and 85 in his last two games. It has been a good run for Palmer this year and had rissen a total of $248,500 in the 12 games he has played. Despite this do not get rid of him, he is still a consistent point scorer and will do his part for your dream team each week.
10. Kurt Tippet (Adelaide) 46
Tippet now has a price of nearly $175,00 and with an average of 53 in his last three games which is including a 15 in round 12 he should get this and rise in value.

Well that’s all the break evens for this week, however if there is a particular players break even you wih to know just put it in a comment below and we’ll comment back with your answer, Cheers.

In doubt ... Dean Cox (File photo)Okay the Bin is back and as allways we will have a look at the best break evens, the worst break evens and the popular break evens. This week there are some shocks in all of these categories and players such as Dean Cox, Alan Didak, Nick Stevens, Tom Lonergan, Shane Valenti and Lance Franklin will all get a mention so you better make sure you don’t miss it, click the link and read on …

ONE PRSONS TRASH IS ANOTHER PERSONS TREASURE – BEST BREAK EVENS

1. Shane Valenti (Melbourne) -61
Again this week, not much more can be said about this guy apart from “WHEN WIL HE PLAY”, we know he will rip it up as soon as he does!
2. Callan Ward (Bulldogs) -43
Doggies youngster who has scored very well in his first two games of 2008 getting a 49 then 59. Only priced at $83,500 so could be a handy reserves option as a defender or midfeilder, the only question is, will he keep getting games?
3. Ben Davies (Kangaroos) -33
This midefeilder is priced cheap at only $131,700 and has only played two games in 2008, with scores of 43 and 92 he is set for a handy price hike. Another possible candidate for a reserves midfeild position.
4. Josh Smith (Kangaroos) -32
5. Colin Garland (Melbourne) -26
6. James Polkinghorne (Brisbane) -22
7. Gavin Urquhart (Kangaroos) -20
8. Jamie McNammara (West Coast) -19
9. Tom Lonergan (Geelong) -18
10. Ryan Davis (West Coast) -11

HURRY THROW IT OUT, IT STINKS! – WORDT BREAK EVENS

1. Luke Ball (St Kilda) 169
As usual with this list they are good players who have justr had a bit of a form slump and Luke Ball is no exception, with a price of $390,800 good scores are expected however he has only managed to score 40 points in Round 12 thus giving him a large break even this week, expect a price drop of $20,000+.
2. Alan Didak (Collingwood) 166
Another good player who has had a shocker in Round 12 scoring a mere 44 points in the Pies loss to Carlton and dropping $18,200. Priced at $402,900 expect another hit to his price this week.
3. Dean Cox (West Coast) 165
Wee i don’t know if anyone thought this day would come, the day Dean Cox appeared on the highest break even chart, Coxy has had a ripper of a year but the problem when having such a good year is that you are expected to keep scoring well. Unfortunately for Big Cox he only managed to scrape together 68 and 82 in the last two weeks, well below his 100+ average. Definately expect a price drop this week however his score truly will determine how much by.
4. Robert Harvey (St Kilda) 160
5. Chance Batemen (Hawthorn) 157
6. Leigh Montagna (St Kilda) 155
7. Brett Burrton (Adelaide) 155
8. Matt Priddis (West Coast) 151
9. Nick Stevens (Carlton) 149
10. Jimmy Bartel (Geelong) 140

BIG NAME BREAK EVENS – POPULAR PLAYERS HAVE THEIR B.E REVIEWED

• Lance Franklin (Hawthorn) 110
Well Buddy can play this week however he will have to play well, scoring badly last week (66) means that his break even pushes up to 110, is easily possible for Buddy however.
• Cyril Rioli (Hawthorn) 63
• Jonathan Brown (Brisbane) 82
Jonathan Brown is still on the way up, everyone will remember the disasterous start to 2008 however he is in tip top form now and has not scored below 124 in the last 4 rounds, true captaincy material. A price rise of $5,000+ can be expected.
• Matthew Kruezer (Carlton) 37
• Heath Shaw (Collingwood) 112
• Gary Ablett (Geelong) 101
Wow, really starting to dominate dream team, has pushed his price up to $486,700 due to him not scoring anything under 118 in the last 5 rounds, another true dt captain. The great thing about Ablett is he has officially been tagged untaggable. If he continues at this rate i don’t think many people will buy him next year as he will start at approximately $512,000. Expect him to get his break even this week and further rise in value by $5,000. The big question is, can he crack the $500k mark?
• Matthew Pavlich (Fremantle) 82
• Kurt Tippet (Adelaide) 41
• Jarryd Roughead (Hawthorn) 54

• I'm Sam Mitchell and I have the worst break even for Round 12!!!The break even bin is back for Round 12! That’s right heres a look at some of the break evens that will matter come lockout time on Friday night. As usual we will look at some of the best break evens, some of the worst break evens and some of the big names break evens. With players like Chad Cornes, Sam Mitchell, Heath Shaw and Scott Lucas this is another edition of the break even bin that cannot afford to be missed.

ONE PERSONS TRASH IS ANOTHERS TREASURE – BEST BREAK EVENS

1. Dennis Armfeild (Carlton) -69
Carlton youngster who has shown good form in his past two games getting 77 and then a 56 last week against the Power. Can be picked as a midefeilder or defender which will certainly help his chances of being selected by dt coaches, priced at only $83,500 could be the back line saviour.
2. Gavin Urquhart (Kangaroos) -69
Another backmen who is trying to save the dream team good defender shortage, ‘Gav’ has a brilliant break even, match that with a brillliant price of $83,500 and two brilliant scores in the last two weeks of 70 and 63 and you have a brilliant pick up really.
3. Shane Valenti (Melbourne) -62
Not much more can be said about Valenti, he has been right up there on this list for the past couple of weeks and it really is just a matter of WHEN WILL HE PLAY?
4. Josh Kennedy (Hawthorn) -28
5. Ryan Hargrave (Western Bulldogs) -27
6. Jarryd Morton (Hawthorn) -24
7. Beau Wilkes (West Coast) -22
8. David Myers (Essendon) -21
9. Sam Lonergan (Essendon) -19
10. Tom Lonergane (Geelong) -18

HURRY THROW IT OUT, IT STINKS! – WORST BREAK EVENS

1. Sam Mitchell (Hawthron) 172
A known champion who is a bit down on form in recent weeks scoring only 54 and 38 in his last two games this is why he got hit with a break even of 172, if you have him be prepared for a price drop of anywhere from $20,000 to $40,000.
2. Scott Lucas (Essendon) 160
The Number 1 Worst Break Even for Round 11 has held his ground well and again is up the Northern end of the worst break even list. Hasn’t been able to bounce back to form with scores of 33 and 47 since returning from injury. Again expect a large price drop of $40,000+.
3. Greg Tivendale (Richmond) 160
Here’s Greg’s little mathematical formula; Price of $338,800, Average of 48 = BIG BREAK EVEN. Yep that;s the problem he is priced high and since he has only played two games this year has not been able to score well, be prepared for a price drop of $35,000+
4. Scott West (Western Bulldogs) 150
5. Brad Ottens (Geelong) 147
6. Lenny Hayes (St Kilda) 147
7. Chad Cornes (Port Afdelaide) 145
8. Heath Shaw (Collingwood) 142
9. Peter Bell (Fremantle) 141
10. Andrew Carrazzo (Carlton) 140

BIG NAMES BREAK EVENS – THE POPULAR PLAYERS HAVE THEIR B.E REVIEWED

• Cyril Rioli (Hawthorn) 82
Well this Hawthorn rookie’s time of being a money magnet is allmost up. After rising $180,000 so far in 2008, unless his form lifts, you can;t see him going up much further if at all. Time to trade in and upgrade.
• Lance Franklin (Hawthorn) 74
Buddy, well heres a break even that will be got, he notched up a smooth 138 opn the weekend and tis week with an easy break even expect him to lift his allready neat price of $411,000.
• Jonathan Brown (Brisbane) 48
in a similar boat to buddy in that he has an easy break even and is in super form, will get this one with ease, and lift his very handy price of $412,500 up past the $420,000 mark.
• Dean Cox (West Coast) 94
• Matthew Kruezer (Carlton) 43
• Daniel Bradshaw (Brisbane) 118
• Matthew Pavlich (Fremantle) 110
• Gary Ablett (Geelong) 90
• Rhys Palmer (Fremantle) 48
• Kurt Tippet (Adelaide) 33
