Well its finals time! And for those who are still in the running for a league win, many may find it hard with the load of injuries coming into the business end….
Jason Porplyzia- Poor Porpy, he has battled hard all year and has been a true DT Gun. Unfortunately, it looks like his season of DT is over, he is set to miss 3-4 weeks, which means best case scenario at this stage is that he could play come league grand finals. Could be an interesting choice on whether you hold on to Porpy or not, because his price has sunken so low (240k), if you have a juicy rookie on your bench, you might find letting him play may be the best option, or if you are strapped for trades/cash. Most likely scenario is that Porpy misses the rest of the DT year, back for AFL finals if the crows make it, a statement by good win aludes to this. http://www.afc.com.au/tabid/4417/Default.aspx?newsid=64835
Chris Knights- A Hammy for Knights, on the positive side it seems only to be a ’slight’ strain and looks likely to miss two weeks. The crows will be keen to get him back a.s.a.p with so must win games coming up if they want to play finals footy.
Heath Shaw- Suffered a brain fade causing him to make an unforgiveable mistake which has in turn put him out for the rest of the year, this brain fade has also had such side effects as an inability to tell the truth. Didak in a similar scenario, but this not his first brain fade.
Scott Lucas- Should be available for selection this week after missing last week with back complaint, be prepared though, his score of 13 two weeks ago could mean another heavy fall in price for lucas. UPDATE, Matthew Knights has stated that lucas is only a ‘50-50′ to play this weekend.
Gary Ablett- Gazza Could be back this week finally! According to the gfc a few weeks ago, Gaz should definately be back by now, hopefully the extra week off has simply been due to the fact that a little rest couldnt hurt and the cats seem to be doing fine without him. Listed as a test, but thankfully geelong has stated that ablett looks very likely to play this week. Thompson stated “he did everything at training so we’d expect that he’d play”. Good news, expect him to come out flying after the few weeks rest he has had.
Paul Chapman- The same cant be said for Ablett’s teammate chappy who looks very likely to miss this week. Bomber Thomson has ensured that the injuries to chapman and wojinski are not serious and the extended rest is precautionary. Thomson said that Chapman, and Wojinski were likely to play in two weeks time Round 20.
Michael Osbourne- Missed last week with a ‘Corked Buttock’, the sort of injury which as most will force someone out 1-2 weeks. Is listed as a test, and it looks like we will not know if he will play this week until tomorow or thursday.
Colin Garland- Has done well warming the bench for a few, but a recent hamstring injury looks like he will be sitting out for the next 2 weeks.
Michael Wilson- If for some reason he is sitting into your DT side, may be time to let him go as he has retired and probably wont score all that much for the rest of the year.
Matthew Richardson- Had an an injury scare saturday night with his knee, but soon returned to the field. Terry Wallace has insisted that he is fine, along with Troy Simmonds and both should line up this week. “He just jarred himself up a little bit and ‘Simmo’ was a bit the same, just at the end of the game. There were no other real issues with the injuries,”
Luke Ball- Had a very nasty hamstring incident on the weekend in which his leg nearly did a 360. Definately going to miss 2 maybe 3 weeks.
Adam Goodes- The latest news from Paul Roos is that Adam Goodes is ”On track” to play this weekend against The Dockers. Goodes trained well on Monday and saying that the swans will be keen to have him back is the understatement of the century. Listed as a test, but things looking the Goodes.
Daniel Kerr- He’s off to have surgery and will miss the rest of 08. Simple as that.
