AFL Injury Update: Round 16

A big week of footy, an even bigger week of injuries…..

Jason Porplyzia- Poor porpy, that shoulder isnt holding up to well for him. His third injury to the same shoulder for the year, If his team wasnt going to make the finals he would probably have surgery and be out for the year. Because crows are gonna play finals, and they are already going to miss Burton you would suspect they would be very keen to try and get Porp back, this would mean they would have to postpone surgery and hope he holds up. Its either no surgery and Porp returns in a few weeks, or surgery and season is over. Still not known about what the Crows and Porp will choose, stay tuned. UPDATE- Porp has chosen to not undergo surgery at this stage and should play in 2-3 weeks time.

Brett Burton- Burton’s 2008 is over, and maybe a fair chunk of 09! His knee injury sustained on the weekend is going to require a full knee reco and wont his the track for a while. Terrible news for the Birdman as he was also in some sensational form.

Andrew Mcleod- Listed as a test, few days a go wasnt given a chance to play this week, but the news is getting better for Mcleod and he may line up this week. He is still a test, and at this stage the chances are he wont play but who knows.

Simon Black- Another big player with an injury, his shoulder which he injured against the bombers gave him some troubles and whilst he came off the ground with things not looking to good he returned to the field. He is listed as a test, may be rested considering they play the eagles at the gabba. Stayed tuned for more.

Jonathon Brown- There may be many donuts in the DT world if browns niggling hip injury stops him from playing this week. Listed as a test, unkown at this stage whether he will play or not. The champ will be very keen to line up, we have seen previously this year Browns determination with playing through injury, i would be surprised if he didnt play.

Gary Ablett- Will miss this week for sure with the rolled ankle. He has strapped himself to a moon boot for the next few days. Cats will hope he returns for the hawks match but is no certainty. The club would hope that a worse case scenario is that he misses to games, but watch out cats! dont bring him back to early, we have seen what it did to Symes and Ottens this year already.

Cameron Ling- Poor lingy copped a big knocked from Dean “Thuggy” Solomon (sorry but he has lost all respect in my books) and will miss at least 3 weeks. Was though to be 3-4 weeks but could be as much as 6 weeks now! Stayed tuned for more.

Chance Bateman- Was a late withdrawl last week after missing a few games, should return this week even though listed as test.

Jordan Lewis- His corked quad will be tested this week, should hopefully return aswell.

Steven Salopek- His nasty achillies injury is coming along ok and will be tested this week. A chance of returning.

Peter Burger- Burgoyne is still a week away according to the PAFC, It was initially though he would be ok for this round, but obviously not.

Richo- Missed last weeks match with Hammy tightness, listed as test but was close to playing last week so hopefully hasnt done anything stupid and ok to play.

  4. Just read some awesome news that JB reckons he’ll be right to play this week. check out the article:

  5. The swans and tigers have made no mention of Deledio and Kennelly, it is assumed that Kennelly’s shoulder is so scrwed that dislocating hardly affects it, and Deledio seems ok even though the incident on the weekend wasnt pretty
